The National Weather Service has expanded the Winter Storm Warning area in a few places this morning ahead of today’s storm. Things look on track for heavy snow across northern portions of the state with the heaviest across the northwest where they may see over a foot in some locations. A Winter Weather Advisory runs to the south of the Winter Storm Warning as there looks to be a sharp cutoff in snowfall amounts as southern/southeastern Iowa looks to receive more of their precipitation in the form of rain. The heaviest snow is expected this evening through Wednesday morning causing limited visibility on the roads. With winds picking up tonight into Wednesday blowing snow is also a concern and will also cause limited visibility on the roads. Both this evening and tomorrow morning’s commutes will be impacted.
